For classical music lovers—especially those moved by Anton Bruckner’s monumental symphonies—finding the best possible sound quality is always a priority. Years ago, looking for new vinyl recordings, I discovered Japanese pressings. On my system, their sonic performance was often superior to European or American counterparts. This led me to gradually replace vintage Decca SXL, Columbia SAX, and EMI ASD pressings with Japanese releases from King Record, Nippon Columbia, Tokyo Shibaura, and JVC. On this site, I simply want to share what I have learned over the years to help fellow enthusiasts discover rare gems and definitive pressings. Because sonic variations between releases can be significant, every record has its own story. While generalizations are tempting, Japanese pressings are not uniform; the only reliable approach is a meticulous, case-by-case analysis. The discographies on this site feature images of records from my personal collection. Records are listed in chronological order by recording date. For certain releases—specifically those from Decca and King Records—I have also included the matrix codes.
