Brucknerhorn
Site dedicated to Anton Bruckner's vinyl discography
and the discovery of Japanese classical music vinyl pressings

For a classical music aficionado, particularly one devoted to the towering symphonies of Anton Bruckner, the search of the best sound quality is always a constant companion. In my search for new vinyl recordings, a long time ago now, I came across Japanese pressings: these pressings often sounded different than their equivalents produced in Europe or the USA and, on my system and in my opinion, in most cases they sounded better. So began a long search that, over time, saw me replace the old Decca SXL, Columbia SAX, EMI ASD pressings on the shelves with their contemporary Japanese pressings by King records, Nippon Columbia, Tokyo Shibaura, Japan Victor Company and others.
With this site I intend to share the information that I have accumulated over the years so that other interested enthusiasts can find otherwise unknown records or instead find the vinyl pressing considered to be the best because the differences between different pressings can sometimes be important. The truth is that each record is a story unto itself. While generalisations can be tempting, it's impossible to predict consistent characteristics across for all Japanese pressings and the only possibility is to do a case by case analysis
My ambition is to complete the main body of the site by 2025
